Day 1: Check-in relax walk around the beach maybe catch the sunset. Day 2: Go to Oia, Nap, check of Fira. Day 3: Catamaran cruise for sunset, hot springs. Day 4: Drive around the island explore and beaches. Day 5: Explore or beach time until time to leave in the afternoon.
We are currently considering Santorini for a week and then a few days in Athens, but heard it can get ridiculously busy especially in cruise ship season. With return flights to Europe around $3k AUD each, and Santorini accom well over 2k for the week, we're wondering if this is this is really the best spot for us or are there other (cheaper!)
On Santorini, people are all over during the day, mainly the main towns and beaches, and gather in Oia and Fira for the sunset and night-life, which is not as vibrant as Mykonos. If you go to Oia, best to go well before sunset and plan on leaving quite late, as first buses after sunset have big queues.

For Santorini, it was all about the walking and exploring. We had most of the parts to ourselves, so it was great. I loved walking Thira and Oia, and along the beach at Perissa. I found the archaeological ruins at Akrotiri faaaar too expensive. The food was okay.

I would do Milos for just beaches or Crete for more diversity, easier to drive around, great beaches, and cheap delicious food. 5 nights will be short, but enough time to spend 3 nights near Chania and 2 nights east of Heraklion before catching the ferry in Heraklion to get to Santorini.
